Title
Smither's Photo Lamp Shade
Creator
Description
Photograph printed on a lamp shade by Fred Smithers. The photograph appears to be a group of cowboys on horseback riding down a rugged slope, most likely in West Texas. This is considered a collectible item. Though an outfit in New Mexico tried to patent these photo lamp shades, Smithers was the first to create them and proved it in court with a letter from President Roosevelt thanking him for the lamp he had given him years prior to the patent dispute. This photo was included in a research paper by Jaime Javier Vasquez for an American History class in 1978.
